Logic Pro 9 recording issues

I'm using a macbook pro 2.4ghz with 2gb ram and a MOTU 896HD and Logic Pro 9.1.1. When I try to record via ADAT inputs the first time appears fine. When I try to record audio again the machine waits about 20-30 secs before initiating and recording .... does anyone have some suggestions as to what may be happening?
