Logic Pro 9 score editor key signature

Having a dreadful time with the score editor. Can anyone tell me how to:

1 make the score editor display key signature on the staff lines?

2 make the score editor come up in the same key as shown in the piano roll? It comes up different, and I must transpose.

3 make the guitar tab view agree with the g clef views?

The score editor is displaying the key signature at all times. If you're not seeing anything perhaps it's because you're in the key of C? In the Score Editor inspector part box there is a box with key signatures that you can drop anywhere in the score.

It's also possible that you've hidden them. Go to Settings>Score Editor>Clefs and Signatures.

The Piano Roll editor is not key oriented. All black keys are shown as a sharp. Therefore it will never be correct in any of the flat keys. Some of this difference in the score editor may be taken care of if you can put in a key signature. Otherwise look in the attributes menu in the score editor and use one of the features there to correct accidentals.

If you are in the key of C, the piano roll shows no sharps but the score editor does (like it's in the key of D) you likely have transposed something in the staff style or selected a transposing style (like Bb clarinet)

We've talked about this some in your other post. Not clear what is not working for you at this time.

I started on your tutorial but got stuck immediately. I still cannot see sharps in the score. I am in the key of D. D is project key assigned in the global bar at top left of inspector. Global tracks prefs are set to show key signature on every staff. I then highlighted the parts box item showing the flats (which I assumed refer to sharps too). I then dragged the D letter to the staff, as you showed in the first lesson where I think you used Eb. The help tag said "inserting", but nothing appeared. I thought it might be that one of the bracketed parts was in tab, so I changed it to g clef 5 also and tried again. No deal. Could it be displayed is some color I cannot see (like white). Can you enlighten me?

Try doing this in a new project and see if it works. Use one of Logic's starting templates, not any you've created.

If it still doesn't work, let me know. Also, feel free to send the file you are working on, minus audio files - or is this the same one you sent already?

Wait, I just looked at that - if you are looking a tablature staff, tab does NOT show key signatures. Try this with anything but a tab staff.

I was not in the tab, rather g-glef 5. As you suggested, I started a new file. I started with an empty one, since I do not seem to have any logic starting templates. I dragged the steel guitar loop to an instrument track I created, erased the notes in piano roll, put in a few notes in D, assigned the project in the global area to key = D. The scroll editor showed another key with bass clef and signature on the last staff, so I put it into g clef 5 and transposed to D. There was no signature. I also tried highlighting the signature icon in the part box and dragging D to the staff. Nothing appeared. I sent you a zip file by email.

Ok, quick look at your file - none of the clef styles found in the clef menu in the staff style editor window below Soprano will show a key signature.

Not sure why you're using "no clef.5" but try switching to treble or bass clef from that menu.....

Thank you, Doug. That was it. I had been looking at g clef staffs, which is what I thought they were called, and the only one that had 5 lines was g-5. Never spotted the treble clef in the list. Problem solved.
