Logic Pro 8 Score lyric advice

Hi,

While I can use Logic's audio aspects in my sleep, the score editor is a new place for me. I'm creating sheet music for a friend, and am trying to add lyrics. The Logic Pro 8 manual has a generous 2 or 3 whole pages on this aspect of Logic, and is pretty skimpy on the actual process. The basics are not really covered.

Does anyone have an idea where I can get some practical information on the best way to do this?

Hey George,

I'm no score expert, but - just to get you started real quick and dirty:

* In The Score editors "Insert Defaults" section in the Inspector; enable the checkbox next to "lyric".

* Right above it, choose your text style that you want to use.

* Choose the Text tool

* Click underneath the first note and type in your first lyric.

* Hit tab to move to the next note where you can enter your next lyric. And continue like that.

The lyrics will be tied to the notes. One "gotcha" to watch out for - don't click to close underneath the staff or Logic will think it is a chord symbol. You need to click a fair distance below the staff for it to be recognized as a "lyric". You can then modify the vertical positioning after they are all entered.

Hi!

I use Logic for everything except serious notation as scores/parts and lyrics.
Some people are, but for me too easy make mistakes (fx with transposition especially with doubling on several instruments, and forgetting printing everything..)

Your question was on the best way to notate lyrics... If you have one of the notation programs, export a midifile and finish there. Splitting words between notes etc can be a hard one (also to read...)
