Logic Pro 9 snip?

Is there a way to cut and have the uncut part on the right move to the left to fill the gap? As it is, I zoom to the appropriate level, select with the marquee tool and delete. Then I have to zoom out to make my selection and then zoom back in in order to pull the regions to the left and position them just at the edge.
There must be an easier way.

I use the "shuffle left" command for exactly this. Select the region, hit the key command, and it snaps to the boundary of the region before it in the timeline.

Thanks. Most of the time it is a vocabulary problem for for these types of things. I don't know what to call it and every other program has different terms for the same operation.
