Software instrument playback

That's a bad attitude. These forums are not about winners and losers, or getting the last word in Jay. I don't need help because I can't use the Studio Horns trumpets anyway because they won't sustain long enough. (I can't use the orchestral trumpets, either, because each instrument has the effect of a unison section which prevents me from achieving the dryer sound.) The file works OK now. And I did thank you, John Morton.

John, honestly I am not looking to have the last word and you are entitled to your opinions about the content that does and does not come with Logic.

What I did want to test is if Logic is not performing as expected on your rig whether or not the same would happen on my rig. Because that would not be opinion, that would be empirical evidence.

OK. That's fine as far as it goes. The 'horse to water' bit came over at this end as an accusation of obstinacy, that's all.
The original file no longer exists but removing the Studio Horns cured the problem so probably (probably) there is no other glitch present. My guess is that the unusually complex velocity/tempo/time sig/automation scheme was too much for the Studio Horns since they don't usually play up. Their inability to sustain more than around 5/6 seconds (ish) is surprising, also.

Incidentally, I'm 80 years of age and, despite my successful past (moderate fame etc.), I can barely afford to breath most days so the high-end instruments will have to wait.

regards, and thanx again, JM.
