Spotlight and Logic

I am having lots of problems with Spotlight, it keep reindexing forever. Is it necessary to have Spotlight active or would Logic suffer from switching it off?

Logic requires the Spotlight index, it however will temporarily disable Spotlight when running and performance is critical.

My suggestion: Use a tool like OnyX to reset the spotlight index and then let it index your system over night without any application running.
