Logic Pro 9 Static Sound instead of Instrument Sound

I have a project with 20 tracks, where about half of them are stock Logic instruments. I haven't loaded this project for some weeks. When I loaded it, two of the stock Logic instruments/tracks made the sound of static, just like AM radio noise, when the preexisting midi regions played. I loaded other Logic instruments as replacements and they worked fine. I then re-replaced with the original instruments. One worked fine, the other continued to be static. I have not been doing any file movement or deletions that would cause this (that I am aware of). I have tried other instruments for the synth (in this case the EXS24) and all seems ok. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on why this occurs and how to fix.

Thanks,
Larry

Have you done a cold boot of your computer lately? Try that, it might work.

Another thing would be to use the disc utility app and make sure your discs are working fine, and that your directory is not corrupted. Just boot Disc utility, and select the disc with your Logic samples on it, and click on the Verify button. if it comes up with a red line in the results, there is an issue, and you will need to repair the disc by clicking on "repair". If it is your system disc, you will need to boot from your original Apple installer disc, and use the disc utility there to repair.

Good luck,

George, thanks for your suggestions. However, no luck. I did the boot first with no change in the results. On the Verify, there were a few un-erased areas on my HD that showed up so, I did the disc repair. Still the same results. I created a new track and loaded the offending instrument (Smooth Fretless Bass). I played a chromatic scale on the keyboard and found that it was only some notes that created the static sound. Additionally, other ECD24 Bass sounds seem to work just fine. So, I am perplexed as to the next step to take.

Thanks,
Larry
