Logic Pro 9 Strange behavior deleting rests

Hi all-I have come back to Logic from Cubase because the Logic score seemed more familiar. The problem now is that when I rubber band selet a rest-the delete key only moves the rest vertically, is this now normal or am I doing it wrong or is APples software just acting up?
Also, was it always so that every click on a note or rest moves the score in linear view one small jump to the left?

Well, you don't say what version of Logic you're using so it's it little hard to say.....

Also, are you talking about user rests?

Anyway, I use Logic 8 and Logic 9 and I have none of those problems.

Might consider replacing preferences.

Sorry to have disturbed you and many thanks for the reply. I am using Logic Pro 9, and yes it would be a user rest since I am using it to replace a wrongly scanned rest from a MIDI file,the bad rest is an 8th and there should be a quarter rest at that point-otherwise the whole bar becomes unusable.

If you or some other kind soul would elaborate on what prefs you are refering to it would help, the Quantize value pref is set to 64th as there more of those than any thing longer.

You're welcome for response - certainly willing to help if I can.

First, if you haven't closed Logic and re-opened it and your project, do that. Sometimes that's enough to take care of problems. Could also shut down and re-boot computer.

However, you may have a corrupt MIDI file that you imported, or you could have a corrupt Logic file. You can eliminate the Logic file by opening the MIDI file in a new Logic project and see if that takes care of behavior.

Regarding preferences, I was referring to Logic's preferences. The file is in your user path: Library>Preferences>Logic>com.apple.logic.pro. With Logic closed, you could remove this to the desktop, launch Logic and said project file, and see if problem still exists. If it doesn't, then the preference file was corrupt and the source of your problem. If it does, I'd quit Logic and replace new preference file created with the old one on your desktop.

Regarding display quantize setting, I usually leave mine at 16,24. But, that depends on the project. I rarely if ever have to deal with rests shorter than a 24th - not sure I want to read a piece with 64th note rests.
