Strange Problem

Hi All,

I am having a strange problem that I haven't encountered or heard/read about anywhere. I am using OS 10.6.4 on a 2 x 2.8 8 core Mac tower. The problem is that, in open Finder windows, my sidebar has disappeared! It doesn't matter which view mode I am in (icon, column, etc) the sidebars aren't there.

They are present within open file save dialogue boxes. But not in regular open Finder windows. And it's not the little "Jaguar" button in the upper right that hides the toolbar. I've tried toggling that and it doesn't solve the problem.

Does anyone have idea what the cause or solution might be? I suspect having to trash some sort of Finder prefs' but I'm not certain.

In the upper right hand corner of any finder window there's a little button that looks like a pill. Click on that and it should bring back your sidebar and toolbar.

Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's not it. here is a screen shot of my open Finder window with the sidebars missing:

Hi Eli

Have you checked the finder menu view -> hide sidebar:

Hi Mark,

D'OH!!!:brkwl:

I thought it was likely something simple like this; but didn't know where to look. I've never seen/used this command before. I must have accidentally hit that key combination inadvertently. Thanks!

My pleasure Eli. As I recall, this caught me out years ago not long after getting my first Mac. Being at the time more used to the windows explorer, this drove me nuts until I finally found out how to show the Sidebar.

kind regards

Mark
