Tempo Change by Key Command

I'd love to be able to increment/decrement tempo by key command, without having to mouse around or use the tap function.

I'm sure there's a workaround -- maybe setting up a tempo list of all useable tempos in small increments, and then toggling thru that list. But a dedicated key command would be so much easier.

Check out the tempo fader in the Environment. It's in the "special" category of faders. Basically, it can control the tempo within a range of, if memory serves, something like 40 - 170 bpm. Or thereabouts. It's limited to 127 steps.

Anyway, in terms of controlling it by key command, once the value has been modified with the mouse, you can use the + / - keys on your keyboard to increment/decrement it just like you can any other fader value. This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but worth exploring.

That was a nice feature (and so well hidden.) It works while sliding in the environment window. The + - on my MacBook won't reflect it though so I don't know how to reach it from my arrange window? When pressing start from the beginning of a song (or a loop), it will default to normal tempo and I have to slide it again? If only I could make the value stay when repeating the song (and find a way to set the change with some key-commands) it's a brilliant feature enabling me to set just the tempo I need for the moment. Can I make the value stay? How about audio, getting VariSpeed to pick up the tempo?

You can use almost any MIDI device to control the tempo. If you insist on the conputer keyboard I think you need software to get MIDI from the keys.
