Logic Pro 9 Time and pitch machine are grayed out!

I want to used the time and pitch machine under "factory"in the sample editor and it's gray, even though I've made sure to select the track I'm editing. I've even tried restarting. Any ideas?

With the sample editor, you need to have a selection within the sample editor, it's nothing to do with selecting a track.

Make sure the portion of audio that you want changed there has been selected right inside the Sample Editor, or the T & P will be greyed out.

Another possibility is that somehow permissions of the audio has changed to read only, check the permissions for that audio file in the finder.

The problem was that I was trying to change an mp3

Sounds like it could have been the permissions then, as converting from within Logic would make a file with the writeable permissions.

Yes. It was set on "only read" instead of "read and write".

Serato Pitch n Time only works with Logic in 32 bit mode.
