Logic Pro 8 too many track instruments?

Here is a pic of my drop-down track instrument list - actually it's only a fragment - I couldn't snap them all. 12 instances each of 16 channels in fact. that's 192 instruments when I'm only using one!

Why are there so many instances - all Kontakt3 AFAICT



any ideas?
