Logic Pro X Track vanishing

I have recently chosen to go back to some older tracks to clean them up a bit. During work on a guitar track the sound quit...... I hadn't muted the track or done anything that I thought could've caused this. I had gone into some of the settings to try to turn off the reverb......

The guitar part was set to a guitar sound from ARIA player - mellow guitar K or KS. I looked through the settings within ARIA player....... Controls were all set to 0%, the mixer was all set to 0, the effects ( reverb ) was set to 0. The equalizer was set to Lo freq - 0, the Lo gain to middle, the Hi freq - 0, and the Lo gain to 0. The damping was also set to 0. The slider in the mixer window is et at 4.0.

Then under the regular channel strip settings there is the compressor, channel EQ and ChromVerb.......... could any of these settings be to blame?

So to summarize I need to find out how to turn off the reverb in the guitar part and also get the track sound back. I'm using LOGIC X.

Thanks so much!

Hello,

What setting did you go into to turn off the reverb?
What reverb?
- ChromVerb?
- Is there a reverb in the Arai player?
- Is the reverb in the channel strip?
- Sent to a bus?

Is the guitar track still visible?

Thanks for writing me back! I didn't turn the reverb off in any of the settings....... I tried to in the ARIA settings but when I moved any of the settings they all reverted to their original positions! I don't understand that at all....... I think I did choose the ChromVerb in the channel strip because I didn't have the choice of NO reverb...... should I choose another one? As I mentioned above there IS a reverb setting in ARIA but I can't figure out how to use it..... There is one also in the channel strip but that is the one I didn't have an option on - I had to choose one...... I didn't change any of the bus settings...... I don't understand what they're used for. I'm sorry I forgot to mention - the guitar part is still showing in the track - it just won't play ( so sound ). It's not muted either.......... Thanks so much....... I appreciate your help....... please let me know what I can do.......

If Chromverb is on an insert in the channel strip and the Dry and Wet sliders are set to zero, then the sound source - the guitar in this case - will not be heard.

I checked the dry and wet sliders and they're not etc to zero....... the other choices or reverb are also not set to zero........

This may an Aria Player issue which I can't help you with.
Are you using one instance of AP with multiple slots filled, each assigned to a separate tracks in Logic?
It's hard to know how to problem solve without knowing how your project is set up.

I'm using only two instances of ARIA....... in the bass part and the guitar part, each assigned a separate track. Thanks for your continued help.

Do a Save As so that you have a copy of your project. In the copy remove AP on the guitar track, then insert it again and set up the guitar sound you want. Does it behave as expected?

Sounds like you have some automation set up on this track - is it possible that the Volume setting has accidentally dropped to zero? (Press A to see your automation on the track)

Sonny: thanks for writing........ I checked and there is no automation in the track at all....... the guitar part is set to 4.0 for the volume.......

I just remembered I had a backup file of this project in iCloud and called it up. The guitar part is working fine and I looked at the settings to se if anything was different from my version I asked about in which the guitar part was there in the track but wouldn't sound......

The only difference was in the channel strip EQ section...... the one in which the guitar WOULD sound had the reverb turned off and the track in which it WOULDN'T sound had different settings and when I tried to change them they would just revert and wouldn't stay changed.......

Could you just tell me how to turn the reverb OFF in the guitar part please?

Thanks!

Tom, it will depend on how your reverb is being applied: If it's the Chromverb mentioned above as an insert, just click the Enable/Disable switch (Leftmost circle with a line in it on the blue bar of the insert) until the insert changes from blue to grey. If the reverb is being sent to a Bus, the Send will have a similar Enable/Disable switch on it, and clicking that until it turns from blue to grey will work. If the reverb is coming from an amp in Amp Designer, you'll have to open up the insert and find the Reverb switch on the amp. HTH
