Logic Pro 9 tracks locked together in freeze mode

I have 10 midi tracks, all different takes of the same instrument, and two of them (which sit side by side to each other) are locked together in freeze mode.

When I engage the freeze function on one of these tracks, the other track also automatically has its freeze function engaged. When I disengage the freeze function of one, the other is likewise simultaneously disengaged. And it doesn't matter which track I hit first. The other 8 tracks work entirely independently in this regard.

I don't know what to look for or how to fix this.

Please help. Thanks.

That's because you have multiple tracks assigned to the same channel strip.

The freeze function actually freezes channel strips, not tracks. Usually they are one and the same, but you can have multiple tracks in the Arrange Window all pointing to the same channel strip. This is desirable in many situations, which I won't go into now. But it sounds like you've created multiple tracks assigned to the same channel strip unintentionally.

One simple solution is to use the "new track with duplicate setting" button at the top of the track list. Create a new identically set up track assigned to a new independent channel strip with it, Then move your regions from one of your current tracks onto it. It will then function independently.

Hope this helps....
