Logic Pro 8 Ultrabeat pattern mode

Help ........

I can't get Ultrabeat to work seeing midi notes to trigger the patterns. I have the Ultrabeat sequencer power button on, the play button on and the pattern mode set to on. When I push the note keys on my controller I just play the samples for the notes Im' playing not triggering patterns. I'm using Logic Studio 8.0.2 .......... I don't know if it's pilot error or not but I think I'm doing what the manual says to do.

Haven't looked at it in a while, but from what I recall, the trigger notes to trigger the patterns are an octave or two below the default low C on a five octave keyboard. So, if you are triggering the samples, you are in the wrong octave. Try one or two octaves lower; that outghta do it. If you only have a five octave keyboard, you'll need to transpose it down.
