Logic Pro 8 Upgrade Question

Ok, I know this is probably a dumb question, so please bear with me.

I own Logic 8 Studio. I want to upgrade to Logic 9. The upgrade price is $199. So far, so good. However...

Logic 8 is installed on my old Powerbook. I got a new Macbook Pro a few months ago, and I never installed Logic 8 on it. So, when I upgrade to 9, I want to install it directly onto my new Macbook Pro--obviously. My question: Will the upgrade require me to have Logic 8 already installed on my new machine in order for the upgrade to work? Or is the upgrade a full, new install, which would only require me to enter (presumably) my Logic 8 serial #?

Thanks in advance.

Upgrade Policies

OK here's the scoop.

If Logic Studio (w/ LP8) is already installed and authorized and working on the computer, then you just need to install the version with the new upgrade codes. Done.

If there is no Logic installed, you can install with the New Logic Studio install, without having to install the old Logic Studio, but you will need The Logic 9 UPG code (which you get with the upgrade,) Plus a Logic 8 Full Version code.

OR

you will need a Logic 9 UPG code, plus a Logic 8 UPG code, plus a working authorized XSkey.

(Read it twice. It will make sense.)

So in other words, if you upgraded to Logic 8 from a prior version and then recently upgraded to Logic 9, hold on to that XSKey just in case you ever have to do a fresh install of Logic 9?

Hmmm....I am only worried because XSKeys have been known to fail, you would think they would have a better way of confirming prior ownership for upgrades?? I would hate to be trying to use an XSKey when USB ceases to exist some years down the line....!

I am sure by then there will be a solution. And if the XSKey has a problem (besides you breaking the connector), the XSKey Updater (Google it...) can fix it.
