Logic Pro 9 Upgrading to L9 but hands on serial number

Upgrading to L9 but hangs on serial number

I'm finally upgrading to L9 from 7, but despite multiple retries cannot get the install process to move beyond the serial number. When I enter the number from the install book (legit) and press continue the cursor turns into the coloured ball and will not proceed any further.
From Apple Support Group I've had advice to remove these files:

Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID
Library/Application Support/ProApps/Logic Studio System ID

...but have neither on my system in the first place.
I am now lost as to which way to turn and any help would be very much appreciated.
 
Have you checked the other "Library" folder? There's one at the root level of your main HD, and another one inside the folder of your username (inside "Users") which stores items supposedly associated only with your username. I've always found this duplication confusing, although I suppose it makes sense on a shared computer.

This dual file system also serve the purpose of easing the transfer of user settings, the backups, the upgrades without losing user settings, etc...
