Logic Pro 8 upgrading

I am currently using express 8 and would like to upgrade to the full version. I have seen used "logic studio 8" 's on ebay that are going for less than purchasing the upgrade from apple. Here are the questions.
1. Are there issues when purchasing a used version, I.E. installing it on another computer if it's been registered to someone else?
2. Can you install the studio version over Express or should it get the version designed just for the upgrade?
3. If I want to upgrade to 9 do I also have to upgrade to Snow Leopard? I am using 10.4
Disclaimer, I am a guitar player, not an engineer or computer geek, sooooo, I am just trying to save a bit of time on doing the research.

Minimum Listed Requirements.

Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
Display with 1280-by-800 resolution or higher
Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later
QuickTime 7.6 or later
DVD drive for installation

You will need to update your OS and hopefully you have an intel machine.

Regarding software, my advice is to get a new copy of the L9 upgrade. I'm not saying you can't trust what is on ebay, but I am saying that when it comes to software it isn't worth the hassle and loss if there is an issue... And I've had plenty of friends and clients encounter issues with software sales over ebay over the years.

True words of wisdom IMO. I have lost count of the number of forum posts from people who ran into problems buying what turned out to be bogus software second hand.
