Logic Pro 9 Using External Gear with Logic Pro 9

Hello,

I am using logic pro 9 with an apogee duet, and I was wondering if there is a way to use an outboard gear like a compressor for example. I would like to be able to record vocals and then add compression later. The Compressor model is a dbx166xl. Is there a way to do that?

This is done via the I/O plugin. I've never used it but it seems to have a latency offset, because obviosuly going from digital back to analogue and then backa again to digital will involve latency.

the obvious question is why would you want to do this, is that compressor so much better than using a compressor plugin which would keep the signal in the digital domain?
