Logic Pro 9 Using Logic 8 & 9 on the same project

I have Logic Pro 8 and a couple buddies have Logic Pro 9. We are talking about buying an external HD and collaborating on a project. I know that when i loaded Logic 8 on my machine i placed the libraries on an external HD to keep my MacBook Pro HD roomy (there are a lot of support files). I guess my question is if we share a HD (at different times) can we work on the same project. IE. If I lay down some guitar tracks on 8 can my friend take the drive home and lay down some drum tracks? Would it be best we all have the same version?

Going from Logic 8 to Logic 9 - shouldn't be a problem.

Going form Logic 9 to Logic 8 - it might work, dependent on what features you use in Logic 9. Anything in 9 not found in 8 won't translate. But - if you're just doing audio, no Flex, no plug-ins like Amp Designer etc., it might work.

If you're adventuresome try it, see how it goes. If it doesn't work, $200.00 gets you a version of Logic 9 and you're all on the same generation of Logic.

Just export regions as audio and send that to your buddies and have them import them into the bars that you specify.

Doing this allows you to share against any DAW.
As well as the same DAW of different versions, Logic 8 or Logic 9.
