Logic Pro 9 Using Logic sounds to record

Can I buy a lower end keyboard such as a Roland and use the sounds in Logic to record music. In other words, will it record the sounds of the keyboard or can I make it so that it uses Logic's instruments? If I can't do this than I will probably buy a Kurzweil PC3X

I don't own a Mac or keyboard but I am looking to buy one.

By default, Logic records it's own synth/sampler sounds. In order to record the sounds of the keyboard, you would need to patch the keyboard\s audio output to the input of whatever interface you use.

These days Logic's own sounds are so good, many/most people who used to use sounds from external keyboards/modules are just using either Logic's sounds or 3rd party digital libraries which run via plugins in Logic and are on your computer.

All you keyboard needs to do is to output MIDI notes and (if you need it) pitchweel and CC data)

The vast majority of folks who use Logic (or similar) don't bother using a keyboard with built-in sounds. A many who do have such a keyboard (typically because they still have one laying around from the before-time) don't even use the built-in sounds.

The sounds inside Logic are as good or better than what's available in most keyboards or modules.
