Logic Pro 8 Using Omnisphere with Logic Express

I am very new to using soft synths, host programs and Logic. I recently bought Logic Express 8 thinking it would host Omnisphere because it was one the programs listed on the Spectrasonics site as a host, but the manual reads, "Important: Logic Express can not act as a host for plug-ins in VST or RTAS format."
Do I need the full version, Logic Studio 8 to run Omnisphere?

Logic, both pro and express, supports plugins exclusively in the Audio Units format. Omnisphere is available in this format alongside VST and RTAS - many of us are running it succesfully in Logic, so all you need to do is run the Omnisphere installer and it should be available as an AU in Logic Express.

Thanks very much Mark for your fast reply.
As I said, I am very new to this so I will have to ask...does this mean I need to uninstall Omnisphere and reinstall it using the AU option?

If you installed it without the AU option, perhaps re-running the installer and selecting only AU will do it. If this is not possible, re-installing over the existing VST and RTAS install, including AU shouldn't really cause any problems - but I must emphasize, I haven't done this myself with Omnisphere. If you are in any way uncertain, best thing is to contact spectrasonics first.

kind regards

Thanks Mark. What I have found is that in the Applications Folder, Omni is listed as Omnisphere.vst. I am not sure how to make the change to .au
I will probably have to do a reinstall.
