Logic Pro 9 Using Score

Inserting lyrics. Drag 'lyric' box to score window, type word, press 'tab', cursor appears in the center of the word, next word is overlaid on to existing word. Tab should move the cursor to the next note. What have I missed? Thanks.

You don't have to drag the lyric icon, just select it and then use the pencil tool.

However that isn't the reason for your problem.

You don't actually mention where you are dragging the lyric icon to though, make sure you actually drag it to the first note, or (as I said) click the pencil tool right on the first note.

I can't think what else could be the problem, I know strange things can happen if you try to write lyrics somewhere that isn't directly on a note.

Thanks for the tip about the pencil tool, Pete. I'm inserting lyrics under the staff in Lead Sheet style. I've discovered that I have to kick off by hitting tab twice. I don't know why, but I guess it doesn't matter - whatever works! It's an eighth-note (quaver) pickup before the next bar line, but that shouldn't make any difference. Should it? PS I used to live near Eastbourne (sun trap of the south.) Now it's Montreal. Long story. A woman was involved.
