Logic Pro V-Control Pro anyone?

Having just migrated over from Pro-Tools, I had V-control on my iPad. Just opened it and found LPX - it opened the manager in LPX - I moved V-Control to the top and things are working great.

I also uploaded the stock iPad app - which doesn't seem nearly as powerful. What do folks here use for iPad controllers?

So last night, Logic was glitchy with V-Control. I was trying to compare/contrast them, and probably because I tried opening V-Control AND the Logic Remote, for a while nothing worked. I basically had to wipe everything out, reboot and repent.

I do the singer/songwriter thing, so the iPad remote is actually more valuable to me than a hardware controller on a wire, which I don't have anyway. I have to say, so far V-Control seems much more powerful and relevant. It's pretty clear that the V-Control was designed for LP-9. I don't see anything on the Neyrinck website that suggests they have updated it. I'm pretty sure I don't like the stock program; it is clearly set up for GB and it just looks cheesy, and doesn't have things like markers. How disappointing.

So despite having invested $$ in V-C and really preferring it's layout, I'm worried that it may be glitchy and I'm looking at others. Can anyone comment on lpTouch, ProRemote or others? They do not specifically mention version X.

In the meantime I'll put V-C through it's paces and comment back. I don't see much in the way of threads here dedicated to the subject, and certainly not in the X section. Maybe most of you are power users and tied to your hardware, but perhaps there are some like me who lurk here.

Thanks.

I don't think you've looked deep enough into the logic remote, you can set up most (if not all haven't found any missing yet) key commands (create marker/go to marker 1,2,3 etc) as buttons. I think it's worth double checking this before trying other apps.

I have noticed Logic's remote as being more responsive - and I have been playing with its functionalities, but I'm having some troubles negotiating the mixer window - there is a swipe for channels, but not if you also want what amounts to a 'jog wheel' slider at the top. That, and if you touch a fader channel by accident it seems to grab the fader.

I have found the next and last marker buttons, so I'm assuming I'll have to customize if I want and actual array of markers - if it's possible at all. I like the idea that the button banks are customizable, but switching to and away from the mixer window doesn't seem very work-flow efficient. With VC, most everything was a touch away - and instantaneous. VC is more window-centric so there's no redrawing when you bring up a feature set. Not really complaining (that much), just noting the differences. I'll probably be using Logic's remote because it seems more stable.

Yep you'll need to customise, every function I've needed is in the quite extensive list, I tend to use it in conjunction with an MCU so I'm not sure about the fader/knob function

Sure, when "at the desk" I have my KB and mouse in front of me, my MCU & iPad to the right. I use the MCU for transport/levelling/automation & track selection/arming (for me a physical fader/knob/shuttle wheel are a must) and the iPad for markers/key commands that require more than 1 modifier. This is particularly useful when tracking, when I'm editing it's pretty much all KB and mouse. When out and about in the studio I just take iPad with me.
