Logic Pro 9 Varispeed

Hi
Just started trying to use Varispeed. I slow my already recorded audio and midi tracks down by 20% so I can record a difficult guitar passage but when I return the speed to normal (0%) the guitar sounds weird. Kind of a phasing sound. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks
Mick

Varispeed used to that extent may indeed introduce artefacts such as you describe. Try slowing the track to a lesser degree, and see if that helps.

kind regards

Learn how to play at the actual speed ;-)

And to further that comment, try and play it bits at a time if you have too.

The speeding up/varispeed thing, at 20% has a heck of a job to do... try 4 or 5%, it would be much better. Part of the issue is also how the envelope and formants of the sounds change over time, that is part of why things sound so strange and fake... our ears hear the slightest things, and that becomes very obvious to us.

Thanks for the reply. I tried slowing by 10% and it helped but still not good enough to use. Can't see much use for Varispeed if I can't slow it by st least 10%

It is pretty cool for fattening úp overdubs. Especially if your only using one person doing the dubbing... 🙂
It's just how we did it back in the dark ages with tape... 🙂
