Logic Pro 9 video playback delay

I'm having a really annoying problem when working with video in Logic 8.

After I hit 'play' everything freezes for about 3-5 seconds before it actually starts playing or recording.

It must be a video problem, because when I remove the video, everything's ok.

I've made a quick video of what's happening. The strange thing is, when I click and press play where there's no video, everything runs like it should be.

First you see me click and play on an area with video (notice the long pause and the leap) and second on an area without video (notice the shorter pause)

It's really frustrating. I'm loosing so much time everytime I hit play.

Any ideas?

Thanks alot!

You may have the answer already. I see this is an older post. I work with video files in Logic daily and initially had the same issue. Very frustrating. I found that part of it came down to the video format/resolution I was using. Logic runs MUCH smoother with .mov files. If they are too high res, they can also cause significant delay. I try to strike a balance so I can still have pretty tasty resolution but great performance too. If you don't already have this free utility, go to http://www.squared5.com and download MPEG StreamClip. This program lets you change the format of your video file so it plays nicely in Logic. Good luck.
