Logic Pro 9 Virtual instrument recording volume

I use an Axiom 61 first gen and an Mbox 2 as controller and interface. I recently upgraded to Mt Lion and lately when I record virtual instruments on the Axiom the volume seems way loud. I have also experienced that recording Gtr through the DI onthe Mbox 2. Inconsistent, sometimes it seems hot, sometimes normal. The pad button helps cut the signal. I am able to control the Axiom volume with a slider but before it would be fine at 10, didn't have to adjust.

I've done the reset onthe Axiom, rebooted the computer several times - remains inconsistent.

Ideas?
