Logic Pro When will EXS24 come of age?

I was recently looking at buying Kontakt to ‘upgrade’ EXS24 but then wondered why EXS24 hasn’t really had an overhaul for donkeys, and wonder whether Apple ever will ?

I think maybe they put that effort into Alchemy instead. EXS24 is still very powerful though the interface can be a bit clunky and one or two key missing features for a sampler, e.g. loop until release (something we used to have on an Akai sampler back in the old days)

It is but can be based on samples. It is not a replacement for EXS24, just saying that I imagine the talent at Apple have been concentrating on this rather than EXS24.

What sort of changes would you want to see? I don't expect to see much beyond making the user interface a little less bizarre for people moving from GB. Bringing it to a point where it can replace the main third party VIs would be a big investment for little return.

It seems to me that most there are plenty of sample players that are available in AU format. Some sample libraries have their own proprietary sample player (Garritan CFX, East/West Play), others use Kontakt (free or full versions available in AU format). Given what's available on Kontakt that's one you should get sooner or later. Pull the trigger on Kontakt and you'll probably forget about EXS24.
