Which Mac Pro to buy?

It's time to ditch my 1st gen 2006 Mac Pro. It's been upgraded as far as possible (without swapping CPUs) but isn't handling heavy projects well and can't run Logic X.

I'll be buying second hand and have been looking at 4,1 and 5,1. What do people think is the sweet spot for running Logic (and 3rd party plug-ins) in terms of cores/CPU speed and price?

I'm curious as well (running 2008 8 core). I'm leaning towards a 2.4 12 core (2010 or 2012) verses a new Mac Pro because I can be up and running in an hour after I transfer my cards and ssd startup drive. With the new Mac I'm looking at a much larger investment both in time and $.
