Logic Pro Will these Mac Mini Specs run Logic well for years to come?

I am buying a new computer for the purpose of Logic and recording/making music. I may use Ableton down the line, but wouldn't run at the same time as logic. Leaning towards a mac mini now versus the iMac given more Ram, storage, processing for the buck.

I'd like to have freedom in playing with the effects available to me that come with Logic. I use a motu m4 audio interface. I have a midi keyboard and plan to lay down some keyboard synth sounds over my guitar work. I may add effects on vocal (reverb) etc. and some effects over the guitar. This is mostly for my making demos of my songs (not professionally). I probably wouldn't have more than 30 tracks a song.

1. Would Logic would run well with the following specs? If not, what would you upgrade?

Mac Mini
3.0GHz 6‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz)
16GB 2666MHz DDR4
512GB SSD storage

2. If I needed more storage later, is there anything I should be weary about when using external SSD with a mac mini?

3. Though Apple says you can't upgrade the RAM after purchase, can a 3rd party do that for me or is it physically not possible?

Thanks,
Z

I would get the i7 if possible. The extra 200 USD could extend the useful life of the computer by some time

You could also consider going for 8 GB RAM and upgrading it yourself. Apple charges up to 3 times the "street price" for RAM. As a rule, the more RAM you have the better, this is to an extent dependent on the sort of work you do. Making extensive use of sample based virtual instruments means, you will want a lot of RAM - you may in this case end up wanting to max out the Mac. Installing RAM in the Mac mini yourself is possible, if not for the faint hearted.....here is a guide:

512GB SSD storage
That should be enough for OS and Apps. Once you start adding substantial amounts of content (common practice working with a DAW) you will need external mass storage.

There are lots of options, I have made good experiences with Samsung SSDs, both internal, using Inateck cases, as well as their T5. Of course, you could go high end and look at a Thunderbolt Raid system, depends on your needs and budget
