Logic Pro 9 Xenon in Logic 9

Does anybody have any experiences with PSP Xenon. It's for sale with a 60% discount until the 7th of April but I don't know much about it and I my calender is full all through Easter. Is it better than the Ad Limiter, does it even work in Logic 9.11, does the 60% discount indicate that it has been priced too highly previously etc. I have a lot of other PSP stuff which I all like but if it can't compete with the Ad Limiter a purchase doesn't make much sense.
I'm guessing that it can compete with Ad Limiter but what about the UAD1/2 Limiter, can it compete with that. I don't have the UAD mastering tools but I have often considered getting them.

(full disclosure-I work as a freelance editor for PSP Audioware)

That said, I've got lots of plug-ins from a lot of vendors, and the only two limiters I use are Logic's Limiters and Xenon. Xenon does work in Logic 9, no problem. It gives you amazing fine control, and I find it's interface far more logical (pun intended) than AdLimiter. Both AdLimiter and Xenon sound great, but I think Xenon is more tweakable.

I'd recommend that you give Xenon a try (I believe there is now a downloadable demo that doesn't require iLok), and if you like it, buy it. At the 60% off price I'd call it a no-brainer. 🙂

Hmm but that's the problem, I don't have any sparetime until after the 7th. On the other hand you are right that it's a pretty good offer and I think I will just buy it.
In the worst case it will end up with many other plugins that I have bought over the years that for some reason (interfaces that just don't appeal to me I guess) don't get used much, if at all.

My guess is that wouldn't happen. There is a good thread about this plugin at Gearslutz, with a bunch of mastering engineers chiming in (including Bob Ohlsson) in favor of this plugin.

Personally, I love it. I'm not a mastering engineer per se, but a location recording engineer, so for preparing rough mixes for artists, it works great, giving me level and limiting control and great dithering all in one. My clients seem to hate getting rough mixes without it (how come my music sounds so quiet?), so in combination with a little education, Xenon is the perfect thing for me. Sometimes I precede it with Vintage Warmer.

YMMV, of course, but I highly doubt that you'll not find this a very useful plugin.

I bought it, as always with PSP there is even further discount if you have other PSP plugins and I have many. I ended up paying 73 Euros including taxes so at that price it was impossible to resist.
Obviously this price is because I have maybe 5 or 6 of their other plugins, if you don't have that many your price will be higher but the highest is 99 dollars + VAT until the 7th of April.
I did actually find some time to check it slightly out and I like it so far. I will try it out at the end of the mastering chain starting next time I get to that point in a project. I would be very surprised if it didn't end up there permanently.
