Yes, yet another legacy OS, interface user in StudioLP9...

Hi and thanks for a full-scale Logic users forum. I'm sure that not everyone can afford to keep up with the latests and greatest releases of their favorite apps, systems and plugs...
That said, I need some help with LPS9 interfacing with a pair of Presonus FP10s. Setting up a new empty project I select 16 audio tracks "ascending". I get not eight, but ten ascending tracks then it turns to Bus 1, 2, 3, etc. to the end of the line. It's eight channels from each FP 10.... So why would Logic give me two of the daisy-chained unit then "bus" the rest? How weird is that? History: been using various old Macs because I'm a poor working boy and am limited to "legacy" versions of whichever computers and software I use. Usually it works great but in my "new" "recording only" system: SL, LP, I've gotten this buggy thing... All legit wares, etc, so...
