Ropy USB Hub power causing disconnections and crashes?

Logician
For some time now I have suffered seemingly random disconnections of my external hard discs, plus latterly crashes of my two-year-old M1 MacBook Pro. Along the way some of my Logic project files have been corrupted and I’ve had to rebuild them. I am now wondering whether the power supply to my USB hub is to blame if for example it’s not producing sufficient power to my hard disks (only two, one ssd and one mechanical). Apple Genius tells me my Mac is fine, and I have changed nearly all the external components plus recently rebuilt the Mac from scratch.

Two questions

1) has anyone had similar issues using an ORICO 10 port hub?
2) what powered USB hub are people using that works with a Mac?

… thanks everyone:)

2)
An OWC Thunderbolt Dock is connected to my M1 Mini. Sample library and project SSD are connected to it.

An Acasis hub is used for a range of devices including my Mac keyboard, MIDI controllers, etc. The Acasis is connected to the OWC TB Dock and hasn't exhibited problems. At times, I connect the Acasis to a Mac Pro 1,1 when digitizing old VHS tapes (FCE, Canopus ADVC 300) written to connected USB 3 mechanical drives.

All I'm saying is what I use with no issues and not making any claims.
