Logic Users Group is closing down

We are very sad to announce that we will be closing down although for the next few months the L.U.G. may still be running as a read only archive. While the site is running you will be able to get in touch via the contact link at the bottom of the page.

For more information and discussion see the thread here: Announcement - closing the L.U.G.

Logic Pro Logic Pro 12.2 released

This line is in the release notes:
  • Resolves an issue where Logic could quit unexpectedly when zooming in on Intel or systems running in Rosetta mode.

I haven’t looked into V12 much yet, but my understanding is that you can’t run it on Intel, and my Intel systems App Store updates tell me V12 is not compatible with my computer. Do I have this right? What is the point of this line in the release notes?

Well spotted! Just speculating - perhaps an older issue from a pre Logic 12 version in which this zoom issue was noted, but which first got fixed in 12.2 - hence the reference to rosetta? On the face of it mentioning intel is a little confusing, almost like shutting the proverbial barn door....

You can run it on Intel, but you don't have access to Silicon-only features like the Stem Splitter. It is to be expected that these features will increase over time until at one point they will explicitly prevent Logic from launching on an Intel machine. Apple is, after all, a hardware company, and they need to sell boxes.

Maybe you can run it if you already have it. But the App Store won't let me install V12, and it doesn't even show V11. Is there another place to find V11?

Thanks for the advice and info. I went back to the App Store and as before it told me that I could not run V12 on my system. Two days later, I got an update notice that I have two apps that can be updated. One of them was Logic, and it was V12.2. I tried updating it and was told Logic Pro could not be downloaded. So, I turned it off and turned it on again, and now it downloaded, installed, and reconfigured my Sound Library. Starting V12.2 up, it validated my plugins, including some that never worked in V10. So, all looks good so far. It does run on Intel, even if some features don't.

At this point, I'm trying to figure out what it did with my sound lib. Settings tells me it is still on an external drive where I put it. (my internal drive is not that big) But there are a few things that look odd. Logic report that getting everything in the new sound lib needs less than 50G, but my current lib is well over 60G. I need to find something gives a good explanation of the sound lib, how to manage it, how to make sure it is where you think it is, how to see what's in there etc.
